PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This policy informs you in accordance with Art. 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which personal data we process when you visit this website, for what purpose and on which legal basis. We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising services. The German version of this policy is authoritative.
1. Controller
BarrierSystems GmbH

68161 Mannheim, Germany
represented by the Managing Director Lars Ehlkes
Phone: +49 621 180623-95
E-mail: info@barriersystems.de
For questions about data protection, please contact us at the same address.
2. Hosting and server logs
This website is operated on our behalf by Code Hive GmbH (data processing under Art. 28 GDPR). It is hosted on servers of Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. KG, Königsberger Straße 4-6, 32339 Espelkamp, Germany, which Code Hive uses as a sub-processor. The servers are located in Germany. If you open barriersystems.de without "www", a server of Strato GmbH, Berlin, redirects you to www.barriersystems.de; the log data listed below is also recorded there.
With every request, your browser transmits technically necessary data that the server logs: IP address, date and time, requested address, status code, amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer), browser and operating system. We need this data to deliver the website, to keep it secure and to investigate faults or attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. The logs are stored only as long as necessary for these purposes and then deleted.
The connection is encrypted via TLS, recognizable by the lock icon and "https://" in the address bar.
3. Fonts and icons
Fonts and icons are served from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts or other font providers is established when you visit the website.
4. Storage in your browser
If you switch between the light and dark appearance, we store your choice in your browser's local storage (key "bs-theme"). The value never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us. Storing it is strictly necessary for the function you requested (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
5. Opening counter
The home page shows how often barriers have been opened with BarrierSystems. To do so, your browser retrieves a file from our own server service.barriersystems.de every five seconds. Your IP address and the technical data listed in section 2 are transmitted and logged. The file itself contains no personal data about you. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is to display the current count.
6. Flyer download
If you request our flyer, we process your name and e-mail address. The data is sent by e-mail to info@barriersystems.de via Mittwald's mail server and a mailbox of Code Hive GmbH (see section 2). You do not receive an e-mail yourself; the flyer opens directly in your browser.
We use the data to provide the flyer and to contact you about your interest in our solutions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (your request) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our interest in responding to enquiries about access management). We do not send newsletters. We delete the data once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
7. Contact by e-mail or phone
If you write to us or call us, we process your data to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the data once the enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply; business correspondence is kept for six to ten years under German commercial and tax law.
8. YouTube video (only after a click)
On the home page you can play a video from YouTube. No connection to YouTube is established until you click "Play video". Only then does your browser load the video in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google receives at least your IP address, the page visited and technical information about your device; YouTube may store information on your device when the video plays.
The legal basis is your consent given by the click (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). The consent applies to this page view only; after reloading the page the video is blocked again. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which an adequacy decision of the European Commission exists (Art. 45 GDPR). See Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
9. Links to other services
The website links to Calendly (appointment booking), LinkedIn and YouTube. These are plain links: data is only transferred once you click one of them, and the privacy policy of the respective provider then applies. If you book an appointment via Calendly, Calendly LLC processes your data on our behalf; you will find the relevant information there.
10. Your rights
You have the right to
- access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal message to info@barriersystems.de is sufficient.
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.
11. Obligation to provide data, automated decisions
You are not obliged to provide us with any data. Without your name and e-mail address, however, we cannot provide the flyer. There is no automated decision-making or profiling under Art. 22 GDPR.
12. Changes
We update this policy when the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
